Having spent half my life in competitive sport, I was proud to help develop a campaign that would boldy pull back the curtain on the outdated prejudice that still exists in women’s sport. Along with MLSE and Canadian Women’s Basketball, we showed the world the extreme passion, sacrifice, strength, and pure determination it takes for women and girls to succeed in sport. Despite the inequality they recieve, women are defying what is possible and their achievements go unrecognized, untelevised, and unfunded. It’s pure madness. https://www.basketball.ca/madlove At Sid Lee Toronto, I directed a provocative TV and OOH campaign that demanded attention. Headlines did not hold back, soften or ‘feminize’ the message. By branding the campaign ‘Madlove’, we were able to insert our message into culture, creating a momentum that could live on beyond the campaign. We gave a name to the fight, and a badge to women all over the world. My goal was to create a platform that held up to the highly funded and promoted campaigns created for male sports. I wanted it to be loud and attract a large audience. Our strategy proved that the biggest contribution we could make to changing the game for women in sport, was to increase visibility and ultimately the fans. <img width="2596" height="1452" Their demin not only expresses tactile, handmade craftmanship, but also the tribal bonds we build together. Our denim holds our stories. In fact it is the catalyst of the memories and feelings that we create. So when I found the world facing a touchless future, I relaized that it was the perfect predicament for Diesel to be in.&nbsp; It was time to inspire people with a likeminded obsession for touch, to seduce an even deeper sensation. In a effort to push up against Nike's "Just Do It", and their domination in technical and performance sport, I encouraged Adidas to own a more culturally relevant truth; the need for mental strength. In our ever-expanding digital and social world, distraction is what holds us back from Just Doing It. We must have mental strength to achieve anything physical. Mental strength is the core thread between sport, creativity, and life in general. "Find Focus" is the first communication campaign to roll out this strategy, leveraging Adidas' new Z.N.E Hoody and their Athletics Collection. 5 global athletes were use to express their personal stories of focus and what it's like to be in the mind of an athlete when it counts most. These stories allow us to connect an athlete's ability to focus, with the lives of Adidas' consumers and their personal distractions.Storytelling gave truth to the brand, and the product in turn became a necessity to help achieve focus. The hashtag #findfocus performed better than #justdoit and the videos generated in total more than 3M views during the weekend of the launch. We used celebrity to instigate a conversation around the current state of our fame-obsessed culture, validation-seeking behavior and celebrity worshipping. We suggested that true superstars only have an audience of one.Only by stripping away, can superstar be built back up with its true, original meaning and inspire a new era of creators who have the courage to create from deep within, following nothing but their instincts. No validation, no applause, no likes needed. The logo was updated to reflect the strategy of recontextualizing the ‘Superstar’. The three stripes were used to violate the mark. This suggested a revision, an evolving definition, and a curious invitation for dialogue. andreagustafson22.com https://andreagustafson22.com/Verizon-Fios-OOH In 2019 I designed a localized campaign for Verizon Fios to announce the arrival of service in new locations throughout Boston and New York City. In an effort to connect the campaign to the wider wireless work which featiured ground level cityscape photography, we invited the same photographer to showcase small neighborhoods. To do this, we shifted the perspective and visualized the unique collection of rooftops that essentially defines and is sentimental to the neighborhood. The larger city can be seen in the back to further celebrate the location. Photographer John Clang transformed normally bleak locations, into magical neighborhoods, full of life and a sense of home. A simple line “Fios is here” felt more like an accomplishment than an announcement. We wanted to reconnect Renzo Russo’s original passion for social opinion and conversation to his bold product vision.&nbsp; The pursuit of original ideas and innovation was the core motivation behind Be Stupid. The images or scenerios were conceived, staged and art directed to demonstrate these values.&nbsp;Three photographers were used simultaneously over two weeks to achieve the campaign’s timeless, found image look. The art direction and design won several awards including, Cannes Lion Grand Prix, The One Show Gold Pencil, D&amp;AD In Book Award and the Andy Award. Be Stupid’s global media buy touched all continents and pushed buttons whenever it could, including at the historic location of the Berlin wall. Motivated to bring “cool” back to chewing gum, we proposed that Trident start a silent revolution. Essentially we asked them to inspire a new generation to CHEW their words wisely. CHEW before they speak. The campaign demonstrates the effortless cool that can be found in the simple act of chewing.
